Traditional braces (left) versus Invisalign (right).

Have you always wanted a straight, beautiful smile, but just can’t get past the thought of having to wear traditional metal braces? Then Invisalign invisible braces could be the right choice for you.

This ground-breaking new system uses sophisticated computer technology and clear aligners to straighten your teeth in about half the time as conventional wire and bracket braces. The process is simple. Every two weeks you insert a new clear aligner over your teeth to gradually straighten them. We are certified to place Invisalign, which means that we have received the additional training required to be a provider.

Will it work for me?

Invisalign has the highest patient satisfaction of any dental procedure. It has been used to create over one million beautiful smiles and counting. Nine out of ten Invisalign users would recommend it to others.

Almost everyone can use the system effectively. Although, sometimes traditional braces may work better for your teenager or child. This is because Invisalign cannot be used on an individual whose teeth are not fully erupted. Dr. Slovan can meet with you to help you determine if you are a good candidate.

The Invisalign Process

To begin the treatment, you will need to have a comprehensive examination, a complete set of x-rays, and a series of impressions taken. This detailed information will be analyzed to plan appropriate tooth movements based on your specific case. Then, the impressions will be sent to the Invisalign laboratory where a set of clear plastic aligners will be made from the computer generated data.

You will receive two clear aligners that are simply placed directly over your teeth. When your aligners are first inserted, you will find them to feel tight. This is by design, since they will be working to move your teeth into a slightly different position. After two short weeks, it’s time to insert your next set of aligners to continue the process. As you work through each new set of aligners, your teeth will be precisely repositioned to give you that smile you’ve always wanted.

Invisalign has successfully corrected many common problems, like overcrowding, irregular tooth spacing, a crossbite, or underbite. This method is not only comfortable and pain-free, it can correct your teeth in approximately six months to a year, about half the time of traditional braces.

Pros & Cons of Invisalign

There are many advantages to choosing Invisalign:

  • They are invisible which means that from a conversational distance, no one will ever know that you are wearing them.
  • Comfort is key! You don’t have to deal with irritating wire and metal brackets.
  • Due to the computer technology, Invisalign is much more efficient than conventional braces. It takes about half the time.
  • There are no dietary restrictions since you remove the aligners before eating. Also, you can brush and floss your teeth normally.

There are a few disadvantages to consider:

  • They require patient participation because the aligners are removable. This means that it is critical to follow the dentist’s instructions very carefully for the best results.
  • Invisalign costs a bit more than traditional braces.

For most cases, Invisalign is a safe and effective way to straighten your teeth. Although, there are certain circumstances where it may not be the best treatment. We invite you to give us a call at to schedule a complimentary consultation to find out if you are a candidate.
